Walking through Zuid-Kennemerland National Park

In the northeastern part of Zuid-Kennemerland National Park you can enjoy a peaceful walk through a varied environment. This route takes you through the Heerenduinen and through the Duin & Kruidberg Estate.

Heerenduinen
At the start of your route you can go to Brasserie & Loungebar DenK for a coffee and something tasty or lunch. When the weather is nice you can sit in the garden overlooking the beautiful pond. Once your inner man is strengthened, you're on your way. First you walk through the Heerenduinen. You will still find old dune oak forests here, a rarity in the Netherlands. You recognize the trees by their irregularly shaped trunks and branches.

Duin & Kruidberg
The second part of your route takes you through the Duin & Kruidberg Estate. The landscape here is slightly more sloping and there are also more dunes. The history of Duin & Kruidberg Estate dates back to 1634. The former farmstead was renovated and was for several decades the largest residential home in the Netherlands. Now it is a hotel. There are some impressive chestnut and beech avenues. The garden in English landscape style was designed by Leonard Springer.
