Enjoy Giethoorn and the Wieden

Your route starts at Hotel Restaurant Zwartewater in the picturesque Zwartsluis, after which you cycle into the Wieden. At the edges of this rugged nature reserve you will see reed fields and flowery meadows. You cycle between the Beulakerwijde and Belterwijde, passing through the hamlet of Ronduite. Further on you cycle through Giethoorn, which is also known as the Venice of the North because of its waterways and bridges. You will experience a unique atmosphere here, get off your bike to enjoy it on foot. In the peat area you then cycle between vast meadows. You will pass through several reclamation villages, a nice contrast with the city centre of Meppel that you will visit later. Thanks to the trading past of this town you will still see many beautiful monuments here. You cycle back through the peat meadow area of Olde Maten.
