Walking through the countryside of Deurne

In the countryside of Deurne it is quiet walking through the fields and forests. This route takes you through the Zandbos. You also pass through some atmospheric old hamlets.

Buntven
The route starts at Het Boerenhuis. Enjoy a coffee on a terrace and the best apple pie in the region before you walk into the Zandbos. This nature reserve consisted of heathland and drifting sands until the second half of the nineteenth century. Now you walk between Scots pines and American oaks. Walk to the Buntven to enjoy the silence and an idyllic view.

Birch Donk
Further on you will pass through Berkendonk, a varied nature and recreation area with vast meadows, forest and a large pond with reed beds. What a beautiful place to walk! A little later you will pass Palingpaviljoen Rijpelaal. Time for a pit stop on the cozy terrace. You cross the Bakelse Aa, after which you walk through several hamlets. In the surrounding farmlands you walk on car-free roads along fields, grasslands and characteristic farms. What a surprisingly nice walking area!
