Description
Put on your walking shoes for a beautiful route full of history: you will visit Gorinchem. In the countryside it is nice to walk along the Waal.
City walls of Gorinchem
The sixteenth-century city walls around Gorinchem are well preserved. The path largely runs over these ramparts. From the footpath you can see many boats floating on the water, and you also have a beautiful view of the Waal. From the bridge you have a beautiful view of the Liniehaven. Further on you will see the Dalempoort from 1597. You will also pass De Hoop, a flour mill from 1764.
Boundary marker
On the dike you will see a boundary marker from 1834 on the right. On the left you will pass the reformed church, a beautiful building from 1801. It is a nice and quiet walk here, while you look out over the river. Herds of sheep graze in the flowery floodplains. After taking a tour around the village of Dalem, you continue walking via the ramparts around the old center of Gorinchem. At Restaurant Metropole you can enjoy something tasty afterwards.
