Description
In Zeeuws-Vlaanderen you will find a lot of natural beauty, sights and charming towns. This route takes you through Oostburg and Breskens, among other things, and you also pass through Het Zwin.
Breskens
The route starts in Oostburg, the cozy center of West Zeeland Flanders. You immediately notice the peace and quiet in the vast polders. It is wonderfully peaceful here to cycle on roads where few cars drive. You can get a breath of fresh air on the dike along the coast.
The Zwin
Further on you cycle many kilometers through the dunes and along the beach. The Verdronken Zwarte Polder is located between junctions 10 and 37: a nature reserve with dunes and shrubs. You will pass the Zwin, a former estuary that is now a beautiful cross-border nature reserve. Retranchement is a remnant of a fortification from 1604. Here you can still see some earthen walls, but also a charming Protestant church from 1630. What a beautiful region!
