On foot through Voornes Duin

Put on your waterproof shoes for a beautiful walk through Voornes Duin, one of the most species-rich dune areas in Western Europe. You also walk a bit along the beach and through Oostvoorne.

Tenellaplas
The route starts at Restaurant Paviljoen De Meidoorn, in the middle of the Voornes Duin nature reserve. You walk a bit along the Tenellaplas. This lake was dug in 1949 as a nature restoration project. A native garden has been created in the visitor center with the released sand. You will find all biotopes from Voornes Duin here. You walk through the forest towards the beach. Here you can get a breath of fresh air, while looking out over the sea and enjoying the sound of the surf.

Jacoba Castle
Then you walk back into the wooded dunes. How wonderfully quiet it is to walk here! From Hoflaan in Oostvoorne you can walk to the restored ruins of the medieval Jacobaburcht, the country residence of Jacoba van Beieren. To the left of Hoflaan is the pleasant village square, to the right you walk across Kerkplein past the beautiful Dutch Reformed Church that dates from the fifteenth century. Just before the Hawdoorn you will see two monumental dune farms from 1910.
