Walking through Odoorn and the Valtherbos

From Klijndijk in Drenthe you walk through the farmland to Odoorn. Here you will see some characteristic farms and take a look at the Margaret Church. The choir dates from the twelfth century, and the building layer up to about four meters high consists of granite boulders. You then walk along car-free paths to the Valtherbos. This nature reserve was planted in the 1920s. You pass dolmen D35, further on you pass a former hiding place, a place marked with a large boulder. From 1943 until the liberation, sixteen Jewish people in hiding stayed here. You walk back through the forest to Klijndijk.
