Walking through Odoorn and the Valtherbos

From Klijndijk in Drenthe, you walk through farmland to Odoorn. Here you will see some characteristic farms and you can take a look at the Margarethakerk. The choir dates back to the twelfth century, and the building layer consists of granite boulders up to a height of four metres. You then walk along car-free paths to the Valtherbos. This nature reserve was planted in the 1920s. You pass dolmen D35, and further on you will pass a former hiding place, a place marked with a large boulder. From 1943 until the liberation, sixteen Jewish people in hiding stayed here. You walk back to Klijndijk through the forest.
