Description
The countryside around Brabantse Mill is great for walking. This route takes you through the Molenheide nature reserve and through the farmlands.
Molenheide
At Brasserie Erica you can first have something to drink and eat, so that you can set off with enough energy. You walk into the forest of Molenheide. It is wonderfully quiet among the Scots pines and American oaks. In the middle of the area you walk across a piece of heathland that is grazed by Scottish Highlanders. Further on you pass a pool, an idyllic spot.
Low Window
At the end of your first loop you can take a pit stop at Brasserie Erica. After a coffee you walk on car-free roads between meadows and fields. Every now and then you see a beautiful characteristic farm. You walk a long way along the Lage Raam, a lowland stream. There are pristine grasslands next to the stream, and you can also see some reed strips and plots of swamp forest. At junction 12 you pass Aldendriel Castle, which dates from 1477.
