Walking through the Wouwse Plantage

Put on your walking shoes at café Trapke. Enjoy something tasty before you get going. You will walk about nine kilometers through one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands; the Wouwse Plantage. This area is known for its peat history. For centuries, the marquises of Bergen op Zoom held sway here. Marshes dried up. Later, heath and drifting sand were forested. You walk along winding paths along beech, oak and Scots pine with occasional views over vast fields. The associated estate has only been accessible to the public since 1987. You now arrive back at your starting point. And what better way to end the day than with a delicious drink at Café Trapke? Correct!
