Description
In Noord-Beveland it is wonderful to cycle along the coastline. One moment you are riding in the shelter of the dike, a little later you have beautiful views over the water. So plenty of variety!
Zeeland Bridge
The route starts just outside Colijnsplaat. From the cycle path you quickly have a view over the Oosterschelde. Getting some fresh air, an ideal way to clear your head. You can see the Zeeland Bridge from a distance. This iconic bridge was completed in 1965 and has a length of five kilometers.
Veerse Meer
Further on is the beautiful Nicholas Church from 1686. The fifteenth-century tower is the only medieval building that survived the All Saints Flood of 1532 (which flooded the whole of Noord-Beveland). You drive a bit along the Veerse Meer, after which you cycle through the quiet polders to the north of the island. Here you see the characteristic inlays: small polders behind the sea dike where you now see an unspoilt nature of swamp, grasslands and reed fields. Beautiful!
