Description
A tour along the Veerse Meer guarantees a beautiful cycling day. This route also takes you along the beach at Veerse Gatdam. And of course Veere is not missing.
Veerse Meer
You can get a breath of fresh air on the cycle path while enjoying beautiful views. You pass the forest on the edge of the Goudplaat, a former island. Further on you drive over the Veerse Gatdam, completed in 1961, the third structure of the Delta Works. You can dip your toes on the beach and listen to the surf.
Veere
It is also wonderful to travel miles on Walcheren. You will pass through Veere, a small but oh so charming town. You will see some beautiful old buildings here, such as the town hall, which still has its original centuries-old facade. The Campveerse Toren dates from the fifteenth century. You cross De Piet, a side arm of the Veerse Meer. To the left of the road you will see forests and then the unspoilt Middelplaten, some uninhabited islands in the Veerse Meer.
