Walking through the wooded dunes below The Hague

South of The Hague you can take a beautiful, refreshing walk. You walk through some adjacent nature reserves, such as Ockenburgh Estate.

Madestein
You will soon walk through Madestein, a nature and recreation area that was created in 1969 in 2 polders. It is one of the largest green areas in The Hague. Here you will find a varied landscape of ponds, reed collars, forest and lawns. It is wonderfully peaceful to walk here.

Four Winds
Further on you pass through Ockenburgh Estate, a wooded country estate that originally dates from the seventeenth century. The country house of the same name originally dates from the seventeenth century, but was extensively renovated in 1889. A little later you walk through the adjacent Solleveld, a nature reserve that not only contains dunes but also forests. In the Westduinen you see unspoiled open plains and strips of shrubs. Finally, you pass the Vier Winden, a flour mill from 1882.
