This route takes you for a walk around the village of Westkapelle. You can fully enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility here.
At Het Polderhuis Museum and more you can enjoy a cozy terrace. In the museum you will learn more about the history of Westkapelle. Such as the Allied bombing that destroyed part of the sea dike and almost the whole of Westkapelle on October 3, 1944. You will not see really old houses during your walk. Outside the village you walk through woods and fields along the banks of the Westkapelse Kreek that arose after the bombardment.
You also walk through the Westkapelse Bos, which was created in the 1950s. You will find a nice mix of deciduous trees and rugged grasslands here. You will pass the Westkapelle Hoog. This almost 50 meters high tower from 1470 originally served as a church tower. A light was set up in 1817, and the associated church burned down in 1831. You walk back to the Polderhuis along the North Sea.
