Description

The route starts in the forest along the Westkapelse Kreek. This creek was created after the North Sea dike was destroyed in a bombing raid during the Second World War. On a car-free and often bush-sheltered path, you walk through the vast polder towards the sea dike. While you walk along the North Sea, you can enjoy a breath of fresh air and the sound of the waves crashing on the dike. You will pass the Noorderhoofd, the low lighthouse of Westkapelle that dates from 1875. At Het Polderhuis Museum and more you can stop for a pit stop on the terrace and for an interesting museum visit. On the dike you can admire a Sherman tank, a remnant of the Second World War. You have a beautiful view of Westkapelle and the sea.
