It is beautiful to walk around Westkapelle. Put on your sturdy shoes for a varied tour through forest, polders and along the sea.
Westkapelle Creek
The route starts in the forest that lies along the Westkapelse Creek. This creek was created after the North Sea dike was destroyed during a bombing raid during the Second World War. Now you walk here for quite a while through forest and meadows along the rippling water. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal for clearing your head. On a car-free road, often sheltered by bushes, you walk through the vast polder towards the sea dike.
North Sea
While you walk along the North Sea, you can get a breath of fresh air and enjoy the sound of the waves crashing on the dike. You pass the Noorderhoofd, the low lighthouse of Westkapelle that dates from 1875. At the Polderhuis Museum and more you can go for a pit stop on the terrace and for an interesting museum visit. On the dike you can admire a Sherman tank, but also enjoy the view over Westkapelle.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
