Welcome to the mountain heath of"Kahle Pön\\\". Follow us through a fascinating landscape, which has left its mark on the higher areas of the low mountain range for centuries. At the end of the 19th century, the tops of the Sauerland were primarily covered with mountain heather. On the plateau"Kahle Pön\\\" on the border between Upland (Hesse) and the Medebacher Bucht (North Rhine-Westphalia) and the source area of the Diemel, is one of the few preserved high heaths of the Rhineland slate mountains . The berry bush heaths of the Rothaargebirge are among the most important remnants of these today particularly endangered plant species in Central Europe.
