From the architect:"The basis is a theater hall with 850 seats divided over a hall and 2 balconies. By raising the ceiling, a third balcony becomes available. The horseshoe shape of the hall ensures optimal contact between players and audience and between spectators among themselves. From the architect:"It concerns the expansion and renovation of the HCO. The expansion now contains all public functions, such as study rooms, library, exhibition, archive shop and café. It radiates the new spirit of openness and accessibility. The building is designed like a folded sheet of paper. From the architect:"The bicycle bridge is part of the entire intersection, where the landscape experience of the place for various users is central. The S-shaped bicycle deck follows the natural line of the comfortable bicycle connection straight across the intersection. A dancing bridge that shows an ever-changing image.\\\" Nominated for the Zwolle Architecture Prize 2008.
IJsseltoren - Grote Voort
"With its height of almost 100 meters, the IJsseltoren is a real eye-catcher of Zwolle. If you enter the city from the south, the tower is decisive in the urban silhouette.\\\"
The IJsseltoren is 95.5 meters high and consists of two parts that are, as it were, pushed together. And next to the IJsseltoren are two lower buildings of four and six floors, which seem to float on slender legs above a kind of podium. This podium is a covered square at a height of six meters, where all kinds of public facilities can be found such as the company restaurant, meeting rooms and a fitness room.
The design therefore not only concerned the building, but the complete environment. The idea behind this is that nowadays people not only come to the office to work, but also want to meet other people, exercise together and have a drink on the terrace after work.

The building represents the common culture and leaves room for personal expression of the various functions. The complex automatically leads a visitor from one of the institutions in the building to the other institution through the cochlea construction. The entire building is made of glass so that it is bathed in light during the day and a festive lantern in the evening. Nominated for the Zwolle Architecture Prize 2008
