Forest walk near Bilthoven

This route takes you through some nature reserves on the eastern edge of Bilthoven. First you walk through the Panbos, which was built around the end of the nineteenth century. Because the soil here is dry and nutrient-poor, you mainly walk along Scots pine trees. You will also pass some small sand drifts. Further on you walk through the forest of the Houdringe Estate with its straight lanes. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal for clearing your head or catching up with your fellow hikers. You cross the cycle path, after which you explore the Biltse Duinen. This small-scale nature reserve consists of forest with some drifting sand plains in between.
