Walking through Gemert and the farmlands

Gemert is a beautiful village, ideal to explore on foot. In the countryside you walk through an old cultural landscape.

Boekent
You can park at Herberg de Brabantse Kluis and possibly have a cup of coffee before you set off. In the countryside you walk on small roads where there are almost no cars. Here you will find a characteristic old landscape of fields, small forests and stream valleys. You walk through Boekent, a hamlet that emerged from an estate of the Teutonic Order. You will still see many well-preserved farms.

Gemert
On the edge of Gemert is the Volksvriend, a flour mill from 1887. At the end of this square you can take a look at the St. John's Beheading church from 1437, before passing Gemert Castle a little later. This castle originally dates from 1391, the current main building dates from 1740.
