Gemert is a beautiful village, ideal to discover on foot. In the outlying area you walk through an old cultural landscape.
At Herberg de Brabantse Kluis you can park and possibly drink a cup of coffee before you set off. In the countryside you walk on small roads where almost no cars drive. Here you will find a characteristic old landscape of fields, small forests and stream valleys. You walk through Boekent, a hamlet that emerged from an estate of the Teutonic Order. You can still see many well-preserved farms.
On the edge of Gemert is the Volksvriend, a corn mill from 1887. At the end of this square you can take a look at the St. Jans Decapitation church from 1437, before passing Gemert Castle a little later. This castle originally dates from 1391, the current main building dates from 1740. Nearby you can enjoy a well-deserved lunch at Dientje Lunch - Diner, before walking through the countryside back to your starting point.
