Walking through the woods above Helmond

Just above Helmond you can take a varied walk through the countryside. Put on your sturdy shoes for a route through forests and an old cultural landscape.

Big Boss
Grab a terrace at Herberg de Brabantse Kluis before you set off. You walk on low-traffic roads through an old cultural landscape of fields and stream valleys with flowery grasslands. You can also see some old farms. After a while you enter the Grotelse Bos, a nature reserve that was planted in the 1930s. You mainly walk between fragrant conifers.

The Bies
Further on you walk through the Biezen. A special nature reserve consisting of flowery grasslands and lush deciduous forests including poplars and oaks. It is wonderfully quiet walking here, ideal to clear your head and come to yourself. At the end of the route you will pass Mission Monastery of the Holy Blood. You can visit the cloister garden with Lourdes grotto here.
