Grotelsche Bos / Grotel / Milschot / De Mortel

Herberg Grotel\\\'s Hof is located near the starting point of this route. There is also a (not too large) parking lot for walkers. From here you can also follow the Grotelse Heide walking route (8 km). That might be a good starting point, although I just managed to park my car at the junction. 

DIRECTIONS:

Grotels Bos is a beautiful, quiet forest with quite a lot of variation. You walk through this forest up to and including junction 22, then the route continues towards De Mortel and the last part is a largely unpaved road past a few farms and a lot of meadows. Those who are only interested in the forest can cut off at node 22 and turn left there towards node 12.

SIGNAGE:

This one is generally pretty good. There is one point that causes confusion: a sign on a gate that directs you to the right. It is just not clear there whether you have to go through the gate or not. It's easiest if you do go through the fence, but if you don't you can climb over the barbed wire at the end via a few small posts. A little further on, the route sends you along a stream and then all the way back. A bit of an odd choice...
