Description

The start is north of Haus Wildenrath. The route follows the natural path to the edge of the forest and crosses the still young Schaagbach. Then you walk through the Birgeler forest to the"Birgelener Pützchen\\\", a small pilgrimage chapel. It continues over a Way of the Cross surrounded by images of saints. Then you go uphill, where you can observe the relics of the west wall.

Over the old railway embankment of the dilapidated route Jülich - Dalheim, the road continues to the highest point of the hiking route. Untouched mixed and beech forests alternate. Often the roads and paths are surrounded by almost human-high ferns. Then you reach the romantic valley of the Schaagbach. The silent path invites you to enjoy nature. Finally, the route leads back to the marshland around Haus Wildenrath.
