Fancy a cycling tour that allows you to experience plenty of peace and natural beauty? Then come to Goeree-Overflakkee. You will find vast polders, beautiful nature reserves, forests, sea, dunes and miles of sunny sandy beaches.

Fishing harbor with fish auction
You will soon drive past Korenlust, a beautiful white flour mill from 1856. You will drive past the Scheelhoek nature reserve and then on to the Aseal seal sanctuary with the Zoet of Zout restaurant. Then you pass the fish auction where the fishing boats sail in every Friday and the fresh fish is auctioned. A little later you drive through the Kwade Hoek nature reserve followed by De Duinen van Goeree-Overflakkee. In this beautiful nature reserve, beach and nature alternate. You will find plenty of peace and quiet here, ideal for downshifting. In the dunes you can get a breath of fresh air and enjoy the salty air.

Lighthouse Westhoofd.
You then pass the 56 meter high Westhoofd Lighthouse. This is the only lighthouse in the Netherlands that is still manned.

Grevelingenmeer
On the west side of the island you pass Polder Het West Nieuwland, which was diked in 1492. You cycle along the south side of Ouddorp, where you have beautiful views of the Grevelingenmeer. A little later you cycle along the unspoilt part of the Slikken van Flakkee. You drive the last part of your route through the vast polders on car-free roads. You then return to the fishing village of Stellendam.
