On the traces of a more than 100-year-old hiking trail, the Bergischer Weg with its 260 kilometers takes you from the Ruhr area through the Bergisches Land and Siebengebirge nature parks to Königswinter on the Rhine. Awarded the'Qualitätsweg Wanderbares Deutschland\\\' by the Deutscher Wanderverband as'Qualitätsweg Wanderbares Deutschland\\\', it runs from the Baldeneysee in Essen through the'Neanderland\\\', through the Bergisches towns of Wuppertal, Remscheid and Solingen as well as through the rural Bergisches Land up to the famous'Drachenfels\\\'.
You can enjoy varied experiences along the route. The route has a lot to offer in terms of both landscape and cultural history: Idyllic landscapes and historic villages, as well as regional and industrial museums, castles, fortresses, monuments and churches bring the culture of the region back to life. The Neanderthal Museum, the Müngstener Brückenpark, the Altenberger Dom as well as the'Drachenfels\\\' are just a few examples of the varied sights. You will also see romantic stream valleys and mountain peaks with a beautiful view.
The marking is continuous in both directions, so you can walk the route in both directions. In addition, there are further access roads that show you the way to the Bergischer Weg.
