The forest not only gives the market town of Waldbröl its name, but is also surrounded by many sagas, legends and myths like hardly any other natural landscape. The druids of the Celts, goblins and gnomes, fairies and elves, giants and the bad wolf from the fairy tales have lived here.
The 12.8 km long forest myth trail invites hikers to embark on a journey through the history of myths surrounding the subject of forests. You can discover mysterious creatures on the eleven information boards along the route, which people have assumed for thousands of years to live in the forest. Hikers can discover the secret of the unicorns here as well as the history of the legend of Robin Hood. In addition, you will learn about the connection between the Smurfs and the gnomes, how the garden gnome found its way into German gardens and how a worldwide initiative for saving forests was developed from the writing of a nine-year-old boy.
The route that runs along the edge of the center of Waldbröl up to the treetop path'Panarbora\\\' (with lookout tower) is very varied. You can look forward to fantastic views of the Oberberg peaks as well as beautiful small villages.
