Cycling through Houten and Nieuw Wulven

This route takes you through Houten and the surrounding area. First you cycle across the Weteringhout. Here there are many monumental farms along the path between the newer houses. Further on you will pass even more historic buildings, such as the Pleinkerk, which originally dates from the thirteenth century. Just outside Houten you cycle along the Oud Wulfseweg, which is named after a former castle. Here too you will see some beautiful farms with national monument status. Just past junction 98 you can view a replica of a Roman watchtower. A complete Roman fort once stood here along the Limes, the northern border of the Roman Empire. The route leads you further through Nieuw Wulven, a varied forest area.
