Description
Your route starts at Hotel Restaurant De Vossenberg. Vierhouten is surrounded by four wooden, or forests. This unique location would explain the name of the village. In any case, it is an ideal starting point for a hiking route. Not long after you leave, you come across Paasheuvel: the former camping site of the Arbeiders Jeugd Centrale (the youth department of the predecessor of the PvdA). The old camp house from 1928 and the guest house from 1938 are listed as national monuments. The Elspeetse Heide is a lovely walk. In this slightly sloping area you hardly see grasses, so that you can enjoy the heathland to the fullest. Especially if this plant starts flowering in August and the landscape changes into a purple sea. It is wonderfully quiet here, especially on weekdays.
