Description
It is nice to cycle through the rolling forests around Groesbeek. You also drive past the Mookerplas and the Maas-Waalkanaal.
Mookerplas
Grab a cozy terrace at Restaurant Lime before you get on your bike. The Heumense Sluis over the Maas-Waal Canal is the first attraction on your route. There was fierce fighting here at the beginning and end of the Second World War, and there is a memorial monument for the fallen. You cycle along the water to Mook, one of the northernmost towns in Limburg. Cycling along the Mookerplas you can enjoy the rippling water and the view of the wooded hills.
Reichswald
Middelaar is also located in Limburg. The village church was destroyed during the Second World War. During the rebuilding there was a shortage of brick, so marl was used for the tower. It is unprecedentedly quiet in the large Reichswald. Now that's fun cycling. Back in the Netherlands you soon drive through Groesbeek. Then you make a climb through the forests of Berg en Dal. What a beautiful region!
