Description

This route runs right through one of the most beautiful parts of Heerlen. From node 48 you cycle through the former village of Palemig, following the route you cycle on the MSP Fiets Allee, a special Allee built for cyclists. At the end of the Allee you pass the Scheasbergerveld district. From the Scheasbergerveld district you cycle towards the Molenberg district, from here you enter the lower caumer. This is a beautiful piece of nature reserve between De Heerlerbaan and the center of Heerlen. A number of old windmills, including the Caumermolen, and stylish residential areas are things you will pass on this route. Once you have passed the nature reserve, you will reach the Caumerveld district. From here you will cycle on to Douve Weien. The Douve Weien district is known for the green character that you feel here, from here you descend quite a bit to the Vrusschemmigerweg residential area. If you now cycle out of the road, you will enter the Bekkerveld district after the roundabout. Now cycle down the Benzerraderweg, then cycle to the right past Heerlen's fire station. At the 2nd crossroads after the barracks, turn right, you are now entering the centre. At the end of this street is the Pancratiusplein with the Pancratiuskerk, a beautiful old building dating from the 12th century. From the Pancratiusplein you cycle further to the Bongerd. This is the end point of the route. If you still want to go into the center, you can park your bicycle for free in the bicycle shed on the Akerstraat. from the end point: 2nd left turn 2nd right turn then the bicycle shed will be on your right. There are many activities in the center, such as the terraces on Pancratiusplein or the shops in the Corio center. also recommended is the fashion house Berden on the Promenade.
