Description
Your walk starts at the memorial point of the former Belgian garrison. Along the historic circular themed hiking trail, 20 information boards provide a glimpse of the route, an impressive combination of scenic experience and regional cultural history.
A sign along the route informs about the smelting furnaces from the La Tène era in the Engsbach valley. 1933/34 approx. 40 iron smelting furnaces were uncovered here. The best preserved one was salvaged and is now in the Siegerland-Museum in Siegen. In the enchanting nature reserve Numbachtal you can admire carefully. You guide the gently babbling brook through the quiet nature in the valley. The historic circular route, the Elisabeth path and the Jacobsweg, joins two famous pilgrimage paths and takes you to another special feature.
Behind the'Starker Buberg\\\', with 431 meters the highest mountain of the route, you arrive at the Seelbacher Hauberg. Also noteworthy is the old-school ensemble and'Heimathaus\\\' of Achenbach and the futuristic-looking architect's house'Skycube\\\'.
