This special cycle route introduces you to the turbulent history of our region, from the Stone Age to the industrial era. Over a distance of over 150 kilometres, this route connects seven historic city centres of the Lipperland, with something to experience in each city. Along the way, you will get to know the many mansions, castles and estates that this region has to offer, and you will discover where this route gets its name from.
Three stages
The ring road can be cycled in both directions and is clearly signposted with the red signs "FürstenRouteLippe". If 150 kilometres is too much of a challenge, you can also choose to cycle just one or two of the three sections.
The first stage starts in Detmold. You cycle straight from the station into nature. Along the way you will get to know Schloss Iggenhausen and the spa town of Bad Salzufeln. The advantage of the first stage is that it is very flat.
From Lemgo along the Schiedersee back to Detmold
The second stage starts in the Hanseatic city of Lemgo, where you should definitely visit the'Hexenbürgermeisterhaus\\\' before you jump on your bike. On the way to Detmold you can take a break at the SchiederSee; a beautiful nature reserve with lots of recreational opportunities.
