High time to crank up the pedals!! I start from Bungalow Park Het Verscholen Dorp (junction 48) with the medieval fortified town of Elburg as my final destination.
Cycling in an easterly direction, I connect via Hierden, with many beautiful farms and neatly landscaped gardens and impressive villas, to the long-distance route "the Zuiderzee Route". This route goes along the water and through the woods. The route is ideally suited to expand into a complete (possibly multi-day) cycling tour around the Randmeren, a route of approximately 150 kilometers where cycling enthusiasts can indulge themselves, but more about that another time ??
Every time I am impressed by the versatility of the Veluwe, on the left is the wide water of the Veluwemeer with a beautiful view of a series of natural islands and on my right is the beautiful rural area of the municipality of Nunspeet with many agricultural businesses. The cycle tour continues past meadows with sheep, cows and horses and eventually passes the foundations of the old St. Ludgerus Church in Elburg. (The church was demolished after heavy damage by a storm in February 1825 and a fire in October 1825.) Once I arrived in the picturesque town of Elburg, I locked my bicycle at the canal full of fish and walked along the beautiful ramparts and parts of the city wall to the cozy shopping streets with countless restaurants and terraces located in the city center. So, now first strengthen the inner man with a delicious cup of latte with a tasty Elburger bone mmmm. This delicious cake in the shape of a fish has been made for almost 100 years and is loved not only by Elburgers, but also by tourists. So if you want to take home something original from Elburg, visit bakery Docter on Beekstraat. Success guaranteed when you return home
