The Römerkanal-Wanderweg follows historical paths: About 80 AD. Roman engineers built a water pipeline from Nettersheim to what was then Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium - today's Cologne - and thus brought high-quality drinking water from the Eifel to the city. With a length of about 95 kilometers, the canal was one of the longest water conduits in the Roman Empire and was one of the most important Roman structures north of the Alps.
Very well served by public transport.
The tram line 18 of the KVB and the lines RE12, RE22, RB23 and RB24 of the Deutsche Bahn provide reliable connections between the stages. Further information at www.bahn.de and www.vrs.de
