Walking through the woods of Spaarnwoude

In nature and recreation area Spaarnwoude it is wonderful to walk through the woods. You can also enjoy views of the ancient polders.

Westhoffbos
The route starts in the Westhoffbos. This forest was created in the 1970s and has a surprising amount of variation. Nature is largely allowed to take its course here, so you can spot many birds, insects and butterflies. Walking along the edge of the forest you look out over the Westhoffplas and its reed collars. Further on you walk into the wide polder. It is wonderfully quiet under the high Dutch skies.

Houtrak
Just like the Westhoffbos, the Houtrak is also part of Spaarnwoude. You walk here through a mosaic of forest, flowery bushes and watercourses. On the Noorderweg, you can see the Noorderbos, which was created in the 1990s, on your right. The monumental farmhouse to the left of the road dates from the end of the nineteenth century.
