Description
It is wonderfully peaceful to walk in the Flemish Ardennes. This route takes you through the Muziekbos, a special nature reserve just outside the town of Ronse.
Music Mountain
The route starts at the parking lot at an inn. From here you immediately walk into the beech forests that lie on the flank of the 150 meter high Muziekberg. Many bluebells bloom here in the spring. At the highest point is the Geuzentoren, a mysterious round tower from 1864 that is made of iron sandstone. A poet who stood on this tower in 1888 proclaimed the hilly region the Flemish Ardennes.
Fortune Mountain
Further on you walk over the Fortuinberg. The forests briefly make way for rolling meadows that offer you beautiful views. There are some old farms along the path. What a charming setting! You walk back into the Muziekbos via a small climb. The'Muz\\\' in the word Muziekbos refers to the Celtic word for'swamp\\\'. Yet the refreshing silence in this forest will be music to your ears.
