For the first part of the route you follow the Twentepad: a long-distance route that runs through the beautiful Twente countryside. Extra fun: you walk on a footpath through flowery meadows. In this sparsely populated region around Mander you rarely hear a car. Here you will experience unprecedented silence by Dutch standards! You cross the Veendijk, a street name that indicates that you are walking through the transition area between the former peat bogs and the higher ash trees.

One moment the path is lined with shrubs and trees, the next you look out over the fields and fields. You will see some characteristic farms along the path.
