Walking through the Heldense Bossen

You can walk straight into the woods from Helden in Limburg. Put on your walking shoes for a nice trip through the Heldense Bossen.

Landwehr
From Brasserie De Zoes you can walk into the Heldense Bossen in no time. Here you can fully enjoy the silence and the vast nature. Ideal for a relaxing day in nature. You walk here through a succession of coniferous forest, small-scale arable land and tufts of heather. Across the woods are remnants of the old landweer: a raised earthen wall that was planted with thorny bushes to stop itinerant bands of robbers.

Monument
At the edge of the forest you pass the Monument of the Bovensbos hiding camp. The camp was betrayed in July 1943. Further on you will pass the Monument'Traces that remained\\\'. This commemorates the men from Helden who were deported to Germany for forced labour. A little further on you will pass the fifteenth-century Sint-Lambertus Church. There is still a monumental village pump from 1865 in the center of Mariaplein. At Brasserie De Zoes you can enjoy something tasty and a specialty beer after your walk.
