Ready for a nice day of cycling on low-traffic roads? Then come to the Flemish Meetjesland. And fully enjoy nature.
Kaprijke
Soon after boarding you will pass Provincial Regional Center Huysmanhoeve. The entire domain is a protected village view, the gatehouse of the medieval farm still remains. You can have a drink here before cycling to picturesque Kaprijke. You will see many old buildings here, such as the baroque town hall from 1663. From junction 13 you drive along De Lieve. It was built in the thirteenth century and is considered the oldest canal in Flanders.
Eeklo
The beautiful village center of Zomergem also breathes history. Here you can see, among other things, the striking town hall. In the rural Meetjesland you drive through a succession of meadows, fields and streams. You regularly pass old farms and chapels. You will also pass through some nature reserves, such as the Keigat forest. You mainly drive here between fragrant conifers. After the forests of Provinciaal Domein het Leen, the old center of Eeklo awaits you: enjoy the history and a terrace!
