Description
From Vierhouten you drive to the Vierhouter Bos. You will find plenty of variety in this sub-area of the Veluwe. Because for centuries only the straight trunks were cleared for wood, the irregular oak trees remained standing. You will also see majestic beech trees that are more than 200 years old. The Hidden Village, a hiding place from 1943, is located in the middle of the forest. From the Gortelse Berg you have a beautiful view of the quiet heath. Gortel is a beautiful hamlet with many well-preserved old farms. Take a break at Camping de Wildhoeve and have a cup of coffee at the associated Brasserie de Houtvesterij! In Vaassen you can stop at IJssalon Rozeboom for an ice cream. You can then enjoy the silence in the extensive forests of the Crown Domain.
