Description
From Marken you walk over the dike to the Waterland. Here you can optimally enjoy the peace and space. Back on Marken you walk through the picturesque old center.
Mark harbor
Eat a delicious meal at Brasserie Restaurant De Taanketen, so that you can start your walk with sufficient energy. You walk through the beautiful harbor of Marken, after which you walk up the dike. A nice path to get a breath of fresh air and look out over the Gouwzee and the grassy polders in the outskirts of Marken. You then walk over the dike that has been connecting Marken to the mainland since 1957.
The Kets
In the Waterland you walk through the typical Dutch landscape of grasslands, ditches and reed beds. Under the high Dutch skies it is wonderfully quiet walking here. Ideal for charging the battery. The path through the meadows can be muddy, so make sure you have waterproof shoes. Back on Marken you walk through the Kets, one of the old neighbourhoods. You will see many characteristic eighteenth and nineteenth century wooden houses here.
