In the Waterland you can really relax. Here you will find plenty of peace, space and beautiful old villages.
Durgerdam
Get a breath of fresh air while looking out over the Markermeer on the left. On the right you see the Waterland with its large grassy meadows, straight ditches and cows. What beautiful Dutch pictures! You pass the Uitdammer Die and the Kinselmeer, which was created by a dike breach. Durgerdam enjoys a protected cityscape. One centuries-old wooden house is even more beautiful than the other. What a history!
Broek in Waterland
It is wonderful to travel for miles along the IJ and the Noordhollandsch Kanaal in Amsterdam North. Before you know it, you're driving into the polders again. You pass through't Twiske, an unspoilt nature reserve of forest, swamp, reed strips and water. In Ilpendam you pass a house from 1959 designed by Gerrit Rietveld. Broek in Waterland is the last village on your route. Just like in Durgerdam, you will also see many monumental wooden houses here.
