Description
You will see a lot of beautiful old windmills, such as on the Ringvaart near Rustenburg. Along the rippling water you cycle through the wide landscape with its high skies. In Spanbroek you drive past the beautiful town hall from 1598. Further on is the sixteenth-century village church. You pass through Sijbekarspel and Benningbroek, two picturesque ribbon villages. Just before Hoorn you cycle past the Windmill Krijgsman. Blokker is an old village that now lies against Hoorn. You can see some monumental farmhouses here, such as the Good Samaritan from 1659. From the dike at Hoorn you have a beautiful view over the Markermeer. Finally you drive through Schermerhorn: until the reclamation of the Schermerpolder in 1635, this village was on an island!
