Walking through the beautiful IJssel valley

Put on sturdy and waterproof walking shoes for a trip through the IJssel valley just outside Wapenveld. You can get a breath of fresh air and enjoy the special places.

Apeldoorn Canal
At the cozy Pannenkoeken restaurant't Mussennest you can first have something to eat, so that you can set off with enough energy. You immediately walk onto the former route of the rail connection between Zwolle-Apeldoorn. This route was nicknamed'Baronne Line\\\' because of the many nobles who lived in the stops along the track. It is now wonderful to walk under the many trees. At the Apeldoorns Canal you can see the wooden Hezenbergersluis from 1829.

floodplains
In the floodplains along the IJssel you can enjoy views over the grasslands and the silence. At a few points you have beautiful views over the river. On the Werverdijk you pass Pouwel Bakhuis, a pumping station from 1919. Further on are a wooden dike warehouse from 1900 and a flood lock from 1894. At this idyllic spot you can grab a bench to cherish the moment. Back at Pannenkoeken restaurant't Mussennest you will probably like something!
