Get a breath of fresh air along the Maas and Waal

You can get a breath of fresh air on the dikes along the Maas and Waal. First you drive past De Gouden Ham recreational lake to Maasbommel. Here you will see old farms and the Reformed Church from 1842. Near Alphen you will pass a nineteenth-century dike warehouse. Heerewaarden is a village located on a narrow embankment strip between the Maas and Waal. You can get off here at the Grote Rivieren Visitor Center. Where the Waal and Maas once had an open connection, you now cycle over the Sluis St. Andries. You drive past a few bird-rich floodplains, and you also pass the idyllic surroundings of Molen Waardenburg. A little further away is the seventeenth-century Waardenburg Castle! Then you cross the Waal and drive past fruit orchards and meadows.
