Walking through the dunes of water pearl De Banken

Oasis for birds
The starting point of this route is on the outskirts of Monster. From here you walk along the coast to Hoek van Holland and then back to Monster through the dunes and past the greenhouse area for which this region is known. In this area you will find two low-lying freshwater lakes that are loved by all kinds of birds as a resting and feeding place. You will of course find many seagulls so close to the coast, but the spoonbill, short-eared owl, purple and egret, red-backed shrike, grebe and the warbler also live here. In short, bird lovers can indulge themselves here.

Natural beauty
There are also hundreds of natterjack toads here, a protected species. It is not for nothing that this area has been named'water pearl\\\'. The dune area is part of the Natura 2000 area Solleveld and Kapittelduinen and the National Park Hollandse Duinen. This varied route runs partly on the beach and partly on the cycle path along the edge of the greenhouse area.
