Description
Along the coast of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen you can fully enjoy the views over the water. And you can visit the Zwin Visitor Center. In the polders you will find beautiful old villages, such as Oostburg.
Hooge Platen
The first kilometers start off excellently. You cycle along the banks of the Western Scheldt. Loosen your legs for a moment while you look out at the many seagoing vessels that call at the port of Antwerp. At low tide you see a large mud flat drying up: the Hooge Platen. Many birds can then be seen sitting at the table. You drive past the harbor of Breskens, further on is the Nieuwe Sluis: a lighthouse from 1867.
Fortress
You can get a breath of fresh air in the dunes while looking out over the sea. Retranchement is a remnant of a fortification from 1604. You can still see some earthen walls here, just like a little later at Sluis. In the polders you drive on car-free roads through a landscape of meadows and creeks.
