Walking through the Pan and the Somerense Heide

From Sterksel you walk through three connected estates, such as the Pan. You also pass through the Somerense Heide nature reserve.

The Pan
At De Broeders you can first have a drink before you set off. On car-free roads you can walk at your leisure through the Brabant countryside. You will soon pass three connected estates: De Vroolijke Jager, de Pan and Boksenberg. You walk through coniferous forests, past grasslands and over an extensive heathland. What a beautiful area! Ideal for a day of unwinding in Brabant style.

Somerense Heide
A little further on you pass the keyepoal. This pole originally stood a little further on at the edge of the forest. Because that was the border between Staats-Brabant and the Spanish Opper-Gelre, you had to pay toll there until 1794. A little later you walk through the Somerense Heide. A refreshingly quiet nature reserve consisting of rectangular forest plots, patches of heathland and fens.
