Walking through the Pan and the Somerense Heide

From Sterksel you walk through three connected estates, such as De Pan. You will also pass through the Somerense Heide nature reserve.

The pan
At De Broeders you can have a drink before you set off. You can easily walk through the Brabant countryside on low-traffic roads. You soon pass through three affiliated estates: De Vroolijke Jager, de Pan and Boksenberg. You walk here through coniferous forests, along grasslands and across a vast moorland. What a beautiful area! Ideal to relax for a day in the Brabant way.

Somerense Heide
A little further on you pass the keyepoal. This pole originally stood a little further on the edge of the forest. Because the border between Staats-Brabant and the Spanish Upper Guelders ran there, you had to pay toll there until 1794. A little later you walk through the Somerense Heide. A refreshingly quiet nature reserve that consists of rectangular woodlands, tufts of heath and fens.
