Through woods and dunes near Burgh

From Burgh you can take a beautiful walk through nature. You pass through the Zeepeduinen and Boswachterij Westerschouwen. You also walk through Nieuw-Haamstede.

Sea dunes
It is wonderfully quiet here. Except for the ever-present wind: sometimes you hear it whisper, but when the clouds in the sky above you flee you know it's going to roar. A herd of about a hundred Shetland ponies grazes between the dune plants to prevent the open plain from becoming overgrown.

Watchtower
In Nieuw-Haamstede you will pass the Westerlichttoren: a 58 meter high lighthouse from 1837. This lighthouse adorned the 250 guilder banknote until the introduction of the euro. The surrounding service residences from 1840 are listed as monuments. You walk back through the rolling Zeepeduinen, after a while you walk through Boswachterij Westerschouwen. From the former water tower you have a beautiful panorama in this forest.

You cannot walk from junction 61 to 21 from March 15 to July 15 due to the breeding season. From the closed gate you can walk to the bridge via the beach.
