Through forest and dunes near Burgh

From Burgh you can take a beautiful walk through nature. You will pass through the Zeepeduinen and Boswachterij Westerschouwen. You will also walk through Nieuw-Haamstede.

Sea dunes
It is wonderfully quiet here. Except for the ever-present wind: sometimes you hear it whisper, but when the clouds above you take flight in the sky you know it is going to roar. A herd of about a hundred Shetland ponies grazes between the dune plants to prevent the open plain from becoming overgrown.

Lookout tower
In Nieuw-Haamstede you pass the Westerlichttoren: a 58-metre high lighthouse from 1837. This lighthouse adorned the 250-guilder banknote until the introduction of the euro. The surrounding service houses from 1840 are considered a monument. You walk back through the rolling Zeepeduinen, after a while you walk through Boswachterij Westerschouwen. From the former water tower you have a beautiful panorama in this forest.

From junction 61 to 21 you can't walk from 15 March to 15 July due to the breeding season. From the closed gate you can walk via the beach to the castle.
