Renesse is a pleasant tourist village, but it also has an authentic side with an ancient history. In addition to the dunes, you will discover a special nature reserve.
Zeeland ring village
From here you walk to the Vroonplas, a recreational area on the edge of Renesse. You walk further into the cozy Renesse. At the sixteenth-century Jacobuskerk you can clearly see that this is an authentic Zeeland ring village. You will see various monumental buildings, such as't Huys Grol, a former country estate whose history dates back to 1599.
Vroon grounds
Then you walk beautifully through the dunes. If the weather is good, you can also walk barefoot through the surf! Just before the end of the route you look out over the Vroongronden: a sand drift landscape that dates back to the Middle Ages. Centuries of grazing have flattened this area and reduced it to a half-open dune landscape with a few creeks. The Vroongronden is a very beautiful walking and cycling nature reserve that is fully accessible.
