You will find plenty of space and tranquility in the triangle between the Vecht and the IJssel and below Zwolle. You pass picturesque villages, country estates, forests and heathland. You are on the border of the IJsseldal and the Vechtdal. As early as the Middle Ages, various waterways (canals) were dug in this area against the wetting of the land between the rivers.

In Laag Zuthem you cycle a few kilometers along the Nieuwe Wetering. In the spring the banks bloom and the young ducklings float on the calm water. A wonderful view from the bike. Laag Zuthem is tiny, friendly and has beautiful historic hooves. For more fun on the water, you should go to the Wythmenerplas. The recreational lake is located on the main road from Zwolle to Raalte. Clear water, marked swimming areas, a vast sandy beach and green sunbathing areas invite you for a day of water fun. So if you hit a hot day and feel like a dip, put some swimwear in the bag.

Via the town with the exciting name Mataram you cycle towards De Vecht. Landgoed Mataram owes its name to the first owner, JM van Rhijn, former resident at the court of the sultan of Mataram. He named the country estate he purchased after the land of Mataram in the former Dutch East Indies. You can enjoy walking on the estate.

You just cross the Vecht opposite Dalfsen. This branch of the IJssel winds its way through the beautiful landscape. On this side of the stream valley of the Vecht, in the hamlet of Millingen, lies the special Edelmans house Den Berg from the early eighteenth century. It is a so-called havezate, a fortified farmhouse, formerly inhabited by nobles.
You will find many estates with manors in this region. They give the landscape an old stateliness that makes you sit straighter on your bike. The halls of beautiful country houses can often be rented for parties'on stand\\\'.

The Den Alerdinck country estate is another wonderful example of a chic manor house. The entire site consists of a castle with a 3 kilometer long moat, coach house, farms, orchard, farmlands, gardens and forests. You can enjoy the atmosphere, luxury and grandeur of yesteryear in complete seclusion for private or business purposes.

De Alerdinck is connected to the Colckhof estate and is located south of Laag Zuthem.

Landgoed De Colckhof

Colckhof

Landhuis de Colckhof is not accessible, but walking on the roads and paths of the estate is allowed. Experience the romance of the English gardens with playful water features, winding paths and beautiful vistas. In the background you can hear birds chirping and woodpeckers drumming on trees. Nearly sixty bird species breed at the Colckhof, so bird watchers can indulge themselves here. The estate dates back to 1300 and the accompanying country house was built in 1840. The country house is privately owned. The estate was laid out in the English landscape style in the first half of the nineteenth century. The landscape consists of patches of grassland, forest, fields and a vegetable garden. In the spring, lilies of the valley, wild hyacinths, daffodils and periwinkle trees bloom here, and in the autumn the forest has beautiful autumn colors. The estate has recently become even more beautiful, because it has just had a makeover. Ponds, canals and ditches have been cleaned, the groundwater level has been raised and the water quality has been restored.
